Chances are you have a folder full of honeymoon ideas on where to go, where to stay, and what to do. You've done a ton of research, so much that you are overwhelmed with all the decisions you have to make in order to book your dream honeymoon.

Before you take the next step in planning your honeymoon, I want to share a few tips I've learned from working with the top honeymoon travel companies in Asia. They have helped thousands of couples design their perfect romantic getaway, so they know what to avoid for a smooth vacation.

1. Avoid leaving the day of or the day after the wedding.

By giving yourself a few days to unwind from the wedding festivities, you will begin your trip relaxed, rested, and organized. No worries if you packed everything. No rushing to the airport. No returning home to a messy house.

2. Avoid splurging on your first resort.

You may want to begin your honeymoon in style, but blowing the budget on your first resort, or even your first destination, means you may have to sacrifice later in the trip.

3. Avoid doing nothing...or doing too much.

Some couples think sunning on the beach sipping cocktails for 10 days is all they need for a great honeymoon. Others want to pack every minute of every day with activities. A better approach is to give yourself plenty of "do nothing" time with days of adventure and exploration. Some couples prefer busy mornings and lazy afternoons. Others decide to make the first part of their trip full of activity and save the last few days for spa days and clear schedules.

4. Avoid leaving the adventure for the last part of your honeymoon.

Packing the end of your trip with lots of activities means boarding the plane home exhausted and overloaded. Save your sanity and give yourself a few days at the end of your trip to relax and prepare for reentry back into the real world.

5. Avoid planning your entire honeymoon online.

While you might be able to save a few bucks, what happens if something goes wrong in a foreign country? BlueWander has partnered with local travel companies and our packages include private drivers and English-speaking guides so you are never alone when things go wrong.

It is normal to feel nervous about making a huge decision - something as important as planning your honeymoon.
